The Hawaii Annual Code Challenge is a nationally recognized program for engaging technologists and others to create innovative solutions to problems within our community and state government.
The theme for the challenges this year will be focused on sustainability goals demonstrated in the Aloha+ Challenge Dashboard focusing on social, economic and environmental factors. The Aloha+ Challenge is a statewide commitment to achieve six interconnected sustainability goals for 2030 and is recognized as a localized framework for the global United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Dashboard measures statewide progress on Hawai‘i’s sustainability goals.
You can earn up to 300 extra credit points for participating in the HACC this year. That can make up for 3 DNFs on the inclass WODs!
Here’s how it works:
Register for the event on Eventbrite as an “In-person participant”. Note that registration is free but limited and HACC has closed registrations early every year. So, sign up immediately to ensure your spot. Plus, if you register, you’ll get a free t-shirt!
Once you’re registered, attend the kickoff event on Saturday, October 20th, from 9am-2pm at the East-West Center on campus. At the end of the day, come find Philip Johnson and tell him your email address. You’ll get 100 extra credit points for attending the kickoff, even if you don’t join a team.
To earn an additional 200 XC points, join a team and produce a project that is demo’d at the Judging and Awards Day on Saturday, November 10, 2018 (also at the East-West Center). If you work on a project but it doesn’t get to demo status, you may be eligible for partial extra credit. Note: you have to do some work as a team member to be eligible for the extra credit. See Philip Johnson during the Awards Day so he can mark down your attendence and award your extra credit.
To obtain extra credit for the kickoff day, find Philip Johnson at the event to let him know you’re there.
