Sign up for a GitHub Account.
Sign up for the GitHub Student Developer Pack, which enables free access to GitHub Copilot.
Once you’ve verified your student status and have been accepted into the program, you can go to the GitHub Student Developer Pack page, scroll down until you see the GitHub Copilot section, and click “Get Student Benefit”. Follow the remaining prompts to complete the setup.
Install the Copilot plugin. For IntelliJ IDEA, you will go to Preferences - Settings - Plugins. Search for GitHub Copilot, click install, and restart. Then click the Copilot icon in the lower left hand corner to activate it. Follow a similar process for installing Copilot into other IDEs.
