Final Project: Milestone 1

On the date and time listed on the Schedule page, you will deliver the first version of your system as part of Milestone M1.

Functional requirements

The minimal requirements for your application at the time of this milestone are:

• Your system is deployed to Galaxy.
• Your system has a landing page. The landing page should help a visitor to understand what the site is about. You should consider a color blocked layout for the landing page. The landing page doesn’t necessarily need a menubar, but it does need a place to login.
• Your system has mockups of at least four other pages.

Software engineering requirements

For this milestone, you must:

• Use GitHub issues and a GitHub project called “M1” to manage the development of this release of the system.
• Use Issue Driven Project Management practices.
• Update your organization’s GitHub Page to document the current version of your system following GitHub hosting guidelines.

Submission instructions

On the date associated with this experience on the Schedule page, Philip will review your project in class. Your team must be present to respond to questions, but it should be possible for Philip to gain complete understanding of the state of the project by going to the github.io project home page.

The project home page should:

• Use a theme that provides a link to the GitHub organization associated with this project and all of its repositories.

• Include up-to-date screen shots showing the state of the project.

• Include a link to the running deployment of your system on Galaxy. Please make sure that the UH account ‘johnson’ is authorized to login. If different credentials are needed to illustrate certain functionality, you can provide those in class.

• A link to the M1 Project page, showing what issues were completed for this milestone. It is appropriate that by the time of the presentation, there are no issues in the BackLog or In Progress for this milestone.

• A link to the M2 Project page, showing the issues expected to be addressed during the second Milestone period for this project.

I will also ask you in class to communicate what you’ll do differently for the next milestone. How will you improve your system and your software engineering process? (You do not have to put this on the project home page.)
